For a specific, but beloved, niche
Pairings, but make it books.
These Summer Storms
The New York Times describes this book by Sarah MacLean as, ”a gripping drama, a summer love story and a nuanced portrait of a family grappling with secrets, privilege and grief.” Sounds like the block party planning committee in our neighborhood tbh. Pair this with an easy DIY Dark ‘n Stormy because you can’t risk an emotional spiral due to a bad drink. Pairs well with grilled meats, spicy Caribbean fare, and tall fences.
The CIA Book Club
We think this one will also appeal to the duders. We know you’re reading this and we genuinely thank you for coming along on our estrogen-soaked ride. It’s a, “rollicking account,” (sounds great), “of the C.I.A.’s mission,” (here’s the intrigue), “to smuggle contraband books and magazines into the Eastern bloc,” (Soviets. Yes. Excellent.). It’s rambunctious. It’s true(ish?). It involves the Eastern bloc. Pair this Charlie English book with vodka, obviously. We’re sipping Elit in times of peril, and aspire to pair it with caviar but realistically are reaching for pickles because the acidity perfectly compliments the spirit’s clarity and we have a Costco-sized jar at the ready.
The Catch
This one is described as a psychological thriller. The description of a, “metaphysical experiment on grief, family and longing,” sounds a lot like the romance pick, but who are we to judge? We have a stack of 12 books on the nightstand completely unopened for the past 3 years. Anyhoo, this “risky, reality bending thriller,” by Yrsa Daley-Ward sounds like a fantastic pairing with Borrasco Prosecco because you can’t have a boring drink with this book. Grab some salty snacks and pace yourself, although this bottle is priced to enjoy!
We’ve made some upgrades to the website! Have you checked them out yet? Here’s what Rosie’s been working on:
Make the header more relative to ads we’re running to see if that improves conversion to the buy-now button
Slim down the choices to see if this increases click through (e.g. what if you get just 1 option when you ask for a pairing and can expand to more)
Rosie? We’re becoming Tik Tokkers! (SIA, Verity and Caty)
Cheers!
